Joshua Sparkman, Pastor

Josh Sparkman was born in Mobile, has spent more than 17 years here, but was raised  in the military. Josh graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in German and Vocal performance. He was converted out of atheism at 20. He attended Christ Presbyterian Church as a college student and went to Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Greenville South Carolina. He is luckily married to his wife, Lori, who, let's be honest, had no business marrying him. And he is blessed to have two boys. In his free time Josh likes to wrestle with his kids, have people in his home, and explore the nooks and crannies of Mobile.

Dick Buchanan, Ruling Elder

Dick Buchanan grew up in Mobile, AL and is married to Tori Wallace Buchanan, who also is from Mobile.  Dick and Tori have attended Christ Presbyterian Church since it began as a church plant and have been members of CPC now for over 30 years.  Dick and Tori have two grown children who are both married as well as two grandchildren.  Dick’s current occupation is president and general manager of Buchanan Lumber Mobile, which is a local business primarily located in the downtown Mobile vicinity.  He also is co-manager of WGB Properties, LLC as well as Buchanan-McRae Timberlands.  Dick’s hobbies include teaching, reading and snow-skiing as well as a being a collegiate baseball umpire at the NCAA and NAIA levels.

Bill Keith, Ruling Elder

Bill Keith grew up I'm Mobile, AL and is married to Noreen Collier Keith. They have two grown married children and one grandchild, and have been members of CPC for over ten years. Bill is a retired mechanical engineer and US Air Force officer, Noreen a retired Registered Nurse. His hobbies include running and playing golf.

Scott Owens, Ruling Elder

Scott W. Owens grew up in Greene County, Alabama, and is a 1983 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Upon moving to Mobile in 1987, Scott attended and joined the newly-particularized Christ Presbyterian Church.  Scott has served as a deacon since 1990 and as an elder since 2006.  He has a daughter, Isibéal, who joined CPC on profession of faith in 2010.  Scott currently practices veterinary medicine at Animal Care of Mobile County in Semmes, where he is owner and manager as well as sole veterinarian.   Scott enjoys reading and researching military and naval history, Civil War reenacting, and writing.

Walter Klopner, Office Staff

Walter Klopner is a native to Mobile. A recent graduate from the University of South Alabama, Walter is pursuing a Marriage and Family Counseling degree from Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS). Walter has attended Christ Presbyterian Church for the past three years, and has served as the Office Administrator for the Church since April of 2015. In addition to being the Church’s Office Administrator, Walter also works at Life South during the week. Walter also wanted everyone to know he is single.

William Bell, Deacon

William Bell is a born-and-raised Mobilian. He is the proud husband of Beverly and a father of four. William is the owner of Bell Stained Glass in Midtown Mobile. He has attended Christ Presbyterian Church for years. Some of William's hobbies are: ballroom dancing with his wife, a love for evangelism and lost souls, and devotion to his grandkids.

Xu Biao, Deacon

Biao Xu was born and grew up in Taiyuan which is the capital of Shanxi province in China. He is married to Jingrong Wang who is also from Taiyuan. Biao & Jingrong have a daughter who is married. In 2002, Biao's job brought him and his family to Mobile and since then they have immigrated into USA and have been living in Mobile. In 1997, Both Biao and Jingrong came to accept the Lord Jesus as their personal savior and were baptized in a local protestant church in Taiyuan. Biao has been one of the co-workers of the Mobile Chinese Christian Fellowship (MCCF) since 2004. His hobbies include swimming, playing table tennis, reading and drinking hot tea.

Gary Horn, Deacon

My name is Gary A. Horn and I am a special education teacher at Alma Bryant High School. I also teach a career tech class called Work Based Learning with Juniors and Seniors. I am married to Cheryl Berg Horn, who is a speech therapist, and we have two children. Leah and Jake are both attending the University of South Alabama.

As a matter of much renown Gary and his family are lovers and purveyors of puns and finely-crafted jokes.
